Tips to Save Water

facebook twitter indeed indeed

California is in one of the worst droughts in recent history. To help do your part in conserving water, and save on your water bill, follow these simple tips.

  • Take a 5 minute shower instead of a 10 minute shower to save 12.5 gallons of water if you have a low-flow shower head, and 25 gallons of water if you have a standard shower head.
  • Turn off the water when shaving or brushing your teeth to save 10 gallons of water a day.
  • Soak pots and pans in soapy water instead of running the water to scrub them clean.
  • Clean sidewalks, driveways, and patios with a broom instead of hosing them down to have up to 18 gallons of water a minute.
  • Replace any toilets with high efficiency models to save 28 gallons of water per day, per toilet. Many counties also offer rebates for installing high efficiency toilets.
  • Fix any leaks in a faucet to save 350 gallons of water per month. If the leak is a small stream, fixing the problem can save up to 7,000 gallons of water a month.
