Keep family, friends safe this Thanksgiving

facebook twitter indeed indeed

Don’t be a statistic this Thanksgiving. Learn how to protect your family and your kitchen when preparing this year’s feast. According to the National Fire Protection Agency, three times the average home fires from cooking instruments are reported every year.

Here are some tips to help keep you and your family and friends safe this Thanksgiving:

  • Always keep an eye on what you are cooking. Never leave the house while to stove is left on.
  • Keep kids a safe distance, at least three feet, from the stove and hot food and liquids.
  • Keep all knives out of the reach of kids.
  • Test all smoke alarms before Thanksgiving and replace battery if needed.
  • Do not wear loose clothing or anything dangling from your body.
  • Keep counters and kitchen floors clutter-free. This will prevent any tripping or knocking something off of the counter.

If planning on deep frying your turkey this year, follow all instructions and safety guidelines included with fryer. Only use the deep fryer in a well ventilated area and make that area a kid-free zone.
