California Healthcare Exchange Deadline Extended

facebook twitter indeed indeed

Due to unforeseen problems with the application process in the new California Healthcare Exchange created under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the state has extended the deadline for January premium payments. Customers who have paid for their premiums as early as the beginning of December have not all received confirmation that their payment was accepted.

With so many applicants all at one time, the system is glutted with an overabundance of applications. More than 400,000 Californians have signed up through the exchange, a large portion of those applicants in the last week of December.

Most civil servants do get health insurance through their employer, but if that is your situation, you should contact a health insurance expert to ensure that you have enough coverage for your entire family. With the new Affordable Care Act, health insurance coverage that is provided by your employer may have changed since 2013.
